Writer, editor and proofreader
Roxanne Reid is a freelance writer, photojournalist and editor. As a travel writer, she has walked through the Kalahari with a San tracker, camped under the stars in the bare stillness of the Richtersveld, and driven along the Roof of Africa in the high mountains of Lesotho. She has breakfasted in the Okavango Delta with a herd of elephants, walked among the wild horses of the Namib Desert and felt the spray of the mighty Victoria Falls on her face.
She has won more than ten Specialist Press Association Pica Awards for writing and editing, and her book A Walk in the Park: travels in and around South Africa's national parks was published by Aardvark Press in 2009.
Her favourite places include the Kalahari Desert and almost anywhere in Namibia, from Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei and the Fish River Canyon in the south to Etosha National Park, Damaraland and the wonders of the Caprivi in the north.
She is also a freelance editor and proofreader for a number of mainstream publishers, and a health writer, covering issues such as nutrition, stress therapy, healthy lifestyle, eye care, HIV/Aids, malaria, waterborne disease in Africa, lifestyle diseases, exercise and massage, spa therapies, wine, etc.
